Provider Access Procedures 2018-2019
At The Ellesmere Port C of E College we are passionate about raising the aspirations of our students and providing them with an informative and varied program of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
Through this we aim to encourage self-awareness, self-determination and self-improvement as a learner.
The Careers Department at the Academy provides a range of services for students from work experience and motivational placements to one-to-one careers interviews and support with application forms and CV writing. In addition staff are actively involved in educational careers visits, enterprise days and employability workshops and have established close links with The University of Chester, local further education providers and employers.
The careers department is supported by external careers advisers from Young Peoples Services who provide individual careers interviews and action plans for students.
All staff work with students to help them make realistic informed choices about their future, to implement their decisions and to create longer term plans for progression throughout their working lives. This involves encouraging students to review experiences and create career action plans for the way forward.
HOW IT WILL BE DELIVERED
Please see below our current careers programme for 2018/19. This is continuously adapted and updated as new opportunities arise throughout the year.
Unifrog is an interactive online tool currently being used by Years 12 and 13 to support students in making informed choices when planning their future career paths. It is a one-stop-shop for students across both KS4 and KS5 regardless of their interests or academic ability. It is a place where students can compare every university course, apprenticeship and FE course in the UK.
Please use our Useful Links page to have a look at websites which can assist you and your child in researching future pathways and employment options.
Students are welcome to book a visit to the careers area after school or during break times to browse through university prospectusâs employer and apprenticeship information or to meet with Mrs Silverlock to ask any questions
Our Designated careers lead Mrs Kelly Silverlock is based within the 6th form area or contactable at firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any queries.
