On Sunday 11th November, students from The Ellesmere Port C of E College were invited to attend the Ellesmere Port Cenotaph as part of the remembrance commemorations. We were also honoured to have one of our pupils read immediately before the two minute silence in the heart of Ellesmere Port. Charlotte read from the book of Psalms to over 300 people in an open air service, and afterwards attended a commemoration service at St Thomas’.
Mr Shelton, Head of Religious Studies said, “This was a truly moving experience. To be at the service with men and women who fight for our country today and during the World War was a really special occasion. Remembering the sacrifice that our armed forces make is important to us at University Church of England Academy and we thank the Mayors office for inviting us to take part.
Charlotte Bell, Year 10, said “It was great to see so many people of the community together, including past members of the armed forces.â€
