Setting the Vision for The Ellesmere Port C of E College

On 24th May,  Mr Shelton, Mr Anderson and Mrs Jenyon (School Pastor) joined our school’s Christian Value Reps to look at the College’s Vision and Values.
Looking at the famous quote from Archbishop Oscar Romero, “Aspire not to have more, but to be more” students explored how this would look in our day to day life. We also explored the themes from our school verse of Micah 6:8 “To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God”.  Students considered what the real life values would look like and discussed words including Love, Truth, Hope, Respect and Forgiveness.
From this students went onto to create some artwork which we will adapt to explain the values around the college site and to our new Year 7 pupils next year.
Mr Shelton, Head of Religious Studies said: “This was a really important morning of activities as our pupils began to engage with our new school vision and values.  The comments they shared, ideas they came up with and their interpretation of the College’s vision is really important for us moving forward.”
Katie said “I understand about justice more, and how it links to my every day life.” Tru added “It has taught me more about how to apply our values to everyday life situations.”
