On Wednesday 24 April, young entrepreneurs from the Ellesmere Port Church of England College took part in The National Enterprise Challenge at The Storyhouse Theatre in Chester.
The students from Year 9 and 10 were tasked to create a new event or competition that will help get more women participating in Football. The event was in partnership with the University Degrees in the Football and Sports Industry (UCFB).
The Enterprise Challenge is a national competition and is part of the Higher Horizons Plus project, in conjunction with the University of Chester. The young entrepreneurs from the College reached the final round where they competed against other teams from across the local area.
The students shown outstanding leadership and entrepreneurial skills during their pitch. They were judged on marketing, branding, budgeting, sourcing a sponsor and developing marketing initiatives to promote Women in Football.
Mrs R Shelton, Strategic Lead for Vocational Education said: “I am so proud of all four teams who took part and it was a fantastic achievement to all who reached this stage of the competition. The ideas presented were unique, creative and portrayed key messages to get more girls into football. Our students shown little nerves when on stage and it great to see a passion for Entrepreneurship within their conceptsâ€
